William Spelman 1943-2024
One of the founding partners of Spelman Johnson, Bill Spelman possessed a vision for developing leaders who would impact their institutions. His focus on identifying and recruiting talent served to expand executive search services within higher education at a time when institutions rarely used search firms. Bill ultimately founded two firms that serve the industry.
Bill was always gracious, had a wonderful sense of humor, and made friends with the most casual passerby. He will be remembered for those warm qualities and for the indelible imprint he left on higher education. “May your going be sheltered and your welcome assured.”
